StepPet ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use the StepPet mobile application (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Step Count Data

The App accesses your device's built-in step counter sensor to record your daily step count. This data is used solely to power the virtual pet growth mechanic within the App.

• What we access: Daily step count from your device's motion sensor
• Where it is stored: Exclusively on your local device (internal storage)
• Is it uploaded: No. Your step data never leaves your device
• Is it shared: No. We do not share step data with any third party

1.2 Pet and App Usage Data

The App stores your virtual pet's state (name, growth stage, experience points, etc.) and your app preferences (language, daily step goal) locally on your device. This data is not transmitted to any server.

1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
• Location data (GPS, Wi-Fi, IP address)
• Contacts, photos, microphone, or camera data
• Device identifiers for tracking purposes
• Financial or payment information

2. Permissions

The App requests the following device permissions:

• Physical Activity / Motion Sensors: Required to access the step counter sensor for counting your daily steps. This is the core functionality of the App.

You may deny this permission, but doing so will prevent the App from recording your steps and your virtual pet will not be able to grow.

3. Advertising

The App displays advertisements to support its free availability. These ads may be provided by third-party advertising networks (such as Google AdMob or similar services). These advertising networks may:

• Use device identifiers to serve relevant ads
• Collect anonymous usage data for ad targeting purposes
• Use cookies or similar tracking technologies
• Have their own privacy policies governing their data practices

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of the advertising networks used by the App. We are not responsible for the data collection practices of these third-party advertisers.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your device's ad settings (e.g., "Opt out of Ads Personalization" in your Google account settings on Android).

4. Data Storage and Security

All user data (step counts, pet state, preferences) is stored locally on your device using Android's internal storage mechanisms (SharedPreferences and Room database). We do not operate any servers or cloud services that receive your data.

Because data is stored locally, deleting the App from your device will permanently erase all associated data. We recommend noting any important information before uninstalling.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the App does not collect or transmit personal data, it poses minimal privacy risk to children.

6. Third-Party Links

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these external sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party services you visit.

7. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: All your data is stored on your device and can be viewed within the App
• Deletion: You can delete all your data at any time by uninstalling the App or using the "Restart" feature in Settings
• Portability: Since data is stored locally, you have full control over it
• Opt-out: You can revoke motion sensor permissions at any time in your device settings

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
